it’s almost impossible to make fun of a news story without making fun of its subject, which is a kind of interesting thing to think about.

The trick is not to care either way, because all adults ought to learn how to take a fucking joke. 

You know when someone says something and it is the Platonic ideal of something they would say? Like if you were writing this person as a character in a play or a television series and you wrote this line, a well-meaning friend would stay your hand and say, “This might be a bit too”?
