I'm Regina Small. I'm a writer and editor in NYC. I have a lot of opinions.
Interests include: sci-fi/fantasy, literature, summertime daydrinking, trying to be a better person, fancy manicures, philosophy, pictures for sad children, and the role of irony in the modern world. And fandom, of course.
I have another blog dedicated exclusively to science fiction/fantasy. Read it here.
Whispery updates time!
As of February 1st, I will be among the underemployed (TM semperidem), which is a blessing in that I will no longer have bleak imaginings of dying at my desk while editing a book review about Pope Pius XII’s legacy or something. It’s also a blessing in that it will give me the time and opportunity to work on other projects that have been long neglected (i.e., everything but my job). And because this is a restructuring layoff and not a “you have a serious comma splice problem, GTFO” firing, I get to leave with good feelings and a little severance and eligibility for unemployment and possibly keep my health insurance through ‘12. So, really: whew.
The way in which it is not a blessing is in the obvious needing-to-live way, as I’m assuming my landlord will not accept payment in ponderous and snarky musings on Doctor Who. This is where I make a request of you, Tumblr friends. If you happen to know a person or organization of persons who, say, needs someone to read their slush pile of science-fiction or fantasy short story/novel manuscripts for a modest yet life-respecting fee, that would be amazing. Just an example! You might have other ideas!
(It could be that you know someone who has an Etsy shop that sells homemade soapĀ shaped like Cylon raiders and that person needs an assistant or something! That would also be cool. I’m open to the ~*possibilities of the universe*~.)
P.S. Look on the bright side, this means roughly 300% more Tumblr blogging.
